Post-Graduate Planning for Rural High Schoolers

NorthStar is a user-friendly way of providing information and fostering an online community for students to engage with their peers.

  • NorthStar’s success lies in providing personalized resources inclusive of the rural high school student context and their needs - resources that rural students ordinarily wouldn’t have access to - and translating otherwise sensitive and seemingly intimidating information in a digestible and approachable way.

  • In my interviews with other NTC and fitness app users, the problem of workout motivation was widespread. This wasn’t only a result of the pandemic disrupting schedules; users found it difficult to schedule and complete workouts both before and during the pandemic.

  • In testing our prototype, we learned that our users are generally open to the idea of additional features to help manage their messages, though the types of features users liked best varied.
